On 7th December 1997 we took part in the Advent Carols service at the newly opened St Anne's and St Andrew's church in Salusbury Road, NW6: this was the Singers' first public performance.
The next event in our calendar was the formal Inauguration of the new church of St Anne and St Andrew on 17th May 1998, at 3.30pm. We sang: Purcell, ``I was glad''; Sheppard, ``Libera nos II''; Bruckner, ``Locus iste''; Clemens, ``Sanctus''.
The choir sang for Evensong on All Saints' Day, 1st November. We sang music by William Byrd for the feast and the Magnificat and Nunc Dimitis from the Short Service by Orland Gibbons. We also took part in the Advent Carols service, 13th December 1998 at 6.30, when we sang Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols in the SATB version, with harp accompaniment played by Emma Johnson.
We sang Evensong for a second time, on July 4th 1999 at 6.30. This was part of the celebration of St Anne's patronal festival. We did the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis from Byrd's Great Service and In Manus Tuas by Tallis.
We sang for the Carols Service at St Anne's on 19th December 1999; we sang music by Praetorius, Poulenc, Bach.
We sang for Evensong on 25th June 2000: Gibbons Mag and Nunc from the Short Service; Tallis If ye love me; preces and responses by Smith; and we even attempted a psalm!
We sang for an informal carols concert on 17th December 2000; motets by Victoria, Britten's A Boy was Born, Lute-Book Lullaby, Berlioz's Shepherds Farewell. This was also the first time the QP Junior Singers sang in public: we did Holst's In the bleak mid-winter and Joubert's Torches.
We sang for mass on the evening of Ash Wednesday, 28th February 2001; we sang one of the greatest pieces from the Renaissance, (one of the greatest pieces of all time, indeed) Josquin Desprez's Miserere mei Deus, a setting of the penitential Psalm 51.
We sang at the service on 5th September 2001 when Father Fergus was installed as Vicar of the church (after 6 years as priest in charge); we sang Bruckner `Locus iste', by special request, and Andrea Gabrieli `O sacrum convivvium'
We sang for Vespers on the Feast of the Assumption on 15th August 2002, as part of our stay at the Abbaye de Mondaye; also for Mass on 18th August 2002.
