Sing World Music and Britten
with QPS - Sunday
3rd October at
This workshop will be led
by Mary Phillips and will focus on helping choir members to develop their vocal
technique. Mary will use brief passages
from the music we'll be singing at the Christmas Concert - in particular from
one or two pieces in Britten's A Ceremony of
Carols. We won't need any printed music
since Mary will introduce us to the phrases orally. So no experience of reading music will be
required. The accent will be on finding
and applying energy - skills which will be useful for singing any music. The workshop will last about an hour, and will
be followed by refreshments and an opportunity to catch up on everyone's news.
If you would like to take part please sign up here by 26th September.

Christmas Carols around the Park – rehearsal on Sunday
19th December
On the afternoon of 19
December (time to be notified), we will rehearse carols for singing in the
streets around the Park on two evenings in the following days. A rehearsal will allow us to perform some
carols we already do but could do a lot better with a little practice; and some
others which we've never dared to do - or even thought of doing - because we
know they would be impossible without rehearsal. Watch this space for details of dates and
times.

Tickets for
future concerts can be reserved by emailing the Treasurer, Simon
Judge. Prices are typically £10 for adults, £5 concessions, and £15 for
a family ticket (defined as two adults plus a reasonable number of children).
We normally have four or five rehearsals before each
concert. These are held on Sunday
evenings – from
There may also been some note-learning sessions for those who want
/ need them; although many find that Midi/MP3 files that we make available on
this site are a very helpful alternative (though you can get some funny looks
when you sing along to your iplayer on the tube …).
